Our Mission

To begin a 3k - 5k Montessori Nature school to serve Sheboygan county starting September 2025

Our goals

01

Montessori Programming

Maria Montessori began a comprehensive early childhood educational curriculum in 1907. Using her foundation and a well trained educator, we hope to implement a math and reading program from the Montessori theory. The classroom will be mixed age and learning is student lead.

02

Nature School

Our vision is to create a world where children grow into compassionate, curious, and environmentally conscious individuals. Learning knows no walls, boundaries, or limits. Together, we are building a vibrant community that values connection, creativity, and care for the planet.

03

Sheboygan County Based

Plymouth and Sheboygan county are in desperate need of diverse and high quality options for alternative education. We hope to provide the area with 3k - 5k programming for many years to come. We also hope to integrate this school in the Sheboygan County Public School District.

Our

Commitment

For Children

  • Connection to Nature

Children thrive when they are free to move, explore, and interact with diverse ecosystems. Through daily hikes, gardening, and care for animals, we nurture their sense of wonder and responsibility for the Earth.

  • Holistic Montessori Based Learning

Through math, language, sensorial experiences, art, music, and practical life activities, children develop emotional intelligence, physical strength, and dexterity- the foundations for lifelong learning. We provide daily opportunities for children to choose and engage in these types of activities for extended periods to foster well-rounded children.

  • Freedom and Choice

Guided by their interests, children are empowered to pursue their passions through project-based learning and unstructured play. The Montessori lessons provide structure in the indoor environment where children thrive. This fosters creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression.

  • Embracing Risk for Growth

Risk-taking is essential for healthy child development. We provide opportunities for children to engage in safe, supervised challenges that build their confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills. Whether climbing a fallen tree, jumping from straw bales, or exploring new terrain, children learn to evaluate risks, trust their instincts and abilities and grow through experience.

  • Empowerment Through Responsibility

From lighting the morning fire to running our school store, maintaining the classroom and animal care, and helping the younger children, the students take ownership of their learning and community roles. These experiences instill confidence, independence, and a sense of purpose.

For Families

  • Community and Inclusivity

Strong relationships are at the heart of our school. Parents, grandparents, and families are integral to our community, participating in and sharing their own rituals, celebrations, and daily activities strengthen our bonds and we encourage our entire school community to come together regularly to share meals, stories, and festivities at several yearly celebrations.

  • Supporting Personal Growth

Parents are our partners in empowering their children to grow their resilience and curiosity. We encourage families to embrace and celebrate the challenges and triumphs their children experience in nature. Whether it’s correctly identifying a plant, overcoming an uncomfortable sensation like mud in their mittens or resolving an issue with a classmate, these moments are all opportunities for personal growth that should be supported by families through encouragement and acknowledgement.. This sort of growth mindset will instill a lifelong love of learning in your child.

For Staff

  • Sustainability and Stewardship

Our practices emphasize the interconnectedness of all life. By foraging, composting, and participating in restoration projects, we teach children to live in harmony with the environment and give back to the community. Our teachers are positive, compassionate role models and environmental stewards who place a high importance on caring for our Earth, its resources and all of its inhabitants.

  • Facilitators of Curiosity and Wonder

Our teachers are guides who spark curiosity and inspire a sense of wonder in children. By observing and responding to children’s interests, they create learning experiences that are meaningful, dynamic, and rooted in exploration. Teachers model a love for discovery, ask thought-provoking, open-ended questions, and encourage children to delve deeper into their natural surroundings, the Montessori materials, and themselves.

Our Timeline

We hope to secure a space by May 2025 and by June we will select students for the program. September 2025 we would begin the half day school.
